Product Overview
The transmission-type smoke meter is a high-precision instrument designed to measure visible pollutants in the exhaust of compression-ignition engines, such as diesel vehicles. It features a split-flow optical design to protect the optical system, ensuring long-term stable operation.
The device complies with the Chinese standard GB 3847-2018 (Limits and Measurement Methods for Diesel Vehicle Emissions – Free Acceleration & Loaded Deceleration Methods) and accurately measures exhaust opacity and the light absorption coefficient. It is widely used in diesel vehicles and other compression-ignition engines, supporting emission control and regulatory compliance.
Working Principle
The smoke meter measures visible particulate matter using split-flow optical detection. As exhaust gases pass through the measurement chamber, a light beam traverses the gas. Particles in the exhaust absorb and scatter the light, causing a decrease in intensity.
A photodetector measures the transmitted light and calculates exhaust opacity and the light absorption coefficient, reflecting the concentration of visible pollutants. The measurement chamber is temperature-controlled to maintain a stable testing environment, minimizing the influence of ambient temperature fluctuations. The split-flow optical design also protects the optical components, ensuring long-term stability.
