Product Overview
The Electrochemical CO₂-to-Syngas System is an innovative technology that converts carbon dioxide (CO₂) and water directly into syngas—a mixture of carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrogen (H₂)—using electricity. The process uses cathode catalysts to facilitate electron transfer and anode catalysts to release oxygen (O₂) from water, ensuring a pure, unmixed product. This technology offers a low-energy, sustainable solution for syngas production, effectively utilizing atmospheric CO₂ and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

Working Principle
CO₂ is electrochemically reduced at the cathode to produce CO, while water is oxidized at the anode to generate O₂. Electrons flow through an external circuit, forming a closed-loop system that efficiently converts CO₂ and water into syngas. By controlling current and voltage, the system can adjust the carbon-to-hydrogen (C/H) ratio and maintain high-purity output.
Key Features
- High-Efficiency Conversion: Achieves effective CO₂-to-syngas conversion at ambient temperature and pressure without the need for high heat or extra energy, reducing overall energy consumption.
- Integrated Capture and Utilization: Combines electrochemical CO₂ capture with conversion, enabling direct use and self-enrichment of CO₂, improving efficiency and lowering operational costs.
- Flexible Capacity: Single-stack CO₂ processing ranges from 50 to 2,000 tons per year, suitable for various production scales.
- High-Quality Syngas: Produces syngas with purity over 85% and adjustable C/H ratio from 0.2:1 to 1:1, ideal for downstream chemical synthesis.
- Durable Electrodes: Electrode lifespan of 5–7 years reduces maintenance frequency and operating costs.
Applications
- Chemical Industry: Syngas can be used to produce synthetic fuels, methanol, olefins, and other high-value chemicals.
- Renewable Energy Integration: Can be paired with wind, solar, and other renewable energy sources to convert and store energy, supporting sustainable development.
- Environmental Protection: Captures and transforms atmospheric CO₂ into usable chemical feedstock, contributing to greenhouse gas reduction and climate change mitigation.
